The late Henk Smidstra, former member of Willoughby church, was instrumental not only in uniting the churches in Langley to walk in the Spirit of Reconciliation with Residential School Survivors but also served as a founding member of the committee. The walk was created in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action and provides an opportunity in which we as a church can respond to God's call to let justice flow like a river in both our personal and communal lives, as well as in the structures of our societies.
Pieter VanderLeek and Dennis deGroot currently serve on the organizing committee which includes representatives from Mennonite, Anglican, and United Churches in Langley. Despite the challenge of COVID-19, a larger than ever turnout of 274 people signed up to walk over the three days.
All are welcome to join us for the 7th Annual Walk in late May of 2022.
