This is Hamish and my perspective of our first day at Serve.
Today began with the whole group and parents meeting at our church to pray over the trip. This would have been a quick process if not for Julia coming an hour and a half later than scheduled. However, we did arrive at First CRC on time and got everything sorted. Today was more of a sorting and intro day to the upcoming week and I’m excited for what’s to come. We did our first Chapel where we learned many new songs, one even in mandarin Chinese. We had supper and a small scavenger hunt to understand the area for all those Albertans. We concluded the day with small groups where we discuss the day and ask questions. In chapel two questions were asked and we were encouraged to focus on them in the days ahead.
What is God doing there already?
How does God want me to contribute?
In the coming days I will try to focus on these, contributing in the way God best wants me to. And seeing the way he’s already present in the area.
