One of our special offerings this month supports our Denominational Shares: ReFrame Ministries (formerly Back to God hour). Their vision is that the lives and worldviews of all people around the globe will be transformed by God's gospel message. Relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Reframe creates contextual media resources, such as the Today & Kid's Corner, that proclaim the gospel, disciple believers, and strengthens the church throughout the world in 10 major languages. This work takes place through their four core strategies: church rooted, major languages, context driven and relationship- focused. Women's Connect Social: On Saturday, September 14th at 10:00am!! Come and join us for a morning of fun. We have a guest speaker from Fraser Valley Gleaners who will talk about this amazing charity. In addition we will be making a dehydrated soup mix to enjoy at home! This a free event but we will have a donation box and all proceeds will go to the work of the Gleaners. Blood Donor Clinic: We will be hosting another Blood Donor Clinic on Thursday, September 19th starting at 11am. If you are able, please join in saving lives together by donating blood. Appointments are necessary and can be booked at blood.ca
Seniors: The new season is starting again and for our first meeting on Thursday, September 19 at 10:00am, we are planning a BBQ and games to play on the front lawn of our church. Mark your calendars, plan to attend and please invite a friend, anyone is welcome to join. Hope to see you all there!!!!
Church Choir: Are you interested in joining a choir here at Willoughby?? Mark Yang is looking for members to join a choir here at the church to preform during the Christmas Season! If you are interested there will be a sign up sheet in the lobby after the service.
Child Abuse Prevention Workshop – For all Willoughby CRC Child & Youth Ministry Leaders, Volunteers & Interested Participants. When? Thursday Sept 26, 7- 9:15pm. Where? Willoughby CRC to REGISTER: Please email Christian, at Christian@willoughbychurch.com. This interactive workshop equips/supports churches & leaders for their ministry roles and responsibility to provide safe ministry environments.The training fulfills insurance requirements for providing the necessary abuse prevention & response training for all Child & Youth Ministry leaders who work/volunteer with minors (under 19 years of age) and vulnerable adults. It takes a WHOLE CHURCH to be a SAFE CHURCH. All leaders need to engage in this workshop/training that supports and equips them for their roles as leaders and creating safe and informed church ministries. EVERYONE is welcome to attend. GLORIA DEI CHORALE, a Christian Community Mixed Voice Choir, is excited to start singing again on September 9, 2024. We are also very excited to welcome our new director, Cathrie Yuen, from Trinity Western University and new pianist, Melody Chan. New and former members are invited to join the choir this fall. Hearts Exchanged Learning Cohort, September -May: This 8-month cohort modeled on a transforming journey of reconciliation equips participants to build respectful, neighbourly relationships with Indigenous communities. Learn How to Grow Restorative Churches in-Person Training: Saturday, Oct 26 and Nov 2 - Living Hope CRC Abbotsford. This training will introduce participants to a framework & vision for being and becoming a restorative congregation. Some of the topics covered are: what does it mean to be a restorative church? how to facilitate circles, and the different types of circles. Garden Sharing Table: Summer 2024 - This is the time of year when home vegetable gardens areproducing vegetables ready for picking. Many of us tend to gardens that produce more than we can eat ourselves. If you have extras, you are invited to bring them on Sundays to our Garden Sharing Table located in the front hallway of the church. We will continue the sharing table through the summer months.
WCRC Library: Did you know Willoughby Church has a library? Find the 'Willoughby Faith Formation Library' through the offices or look online on our website! Whether you are looking for a devotional or a book on reflection, there are books available for all ages. This resource is open during office hours and after the Sunday service.
