On a Friday night in January the girls GEMs club gathered at the church to focus on the th this year’s theme, Choose Truth, based on Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” We talked about the Bible as God's story - His Story — His plan to rescue us. Sometimes that’s really obvious, like when Jesus healed people or saved them from storms. Sometimes, it’s not so obvious, like when we read stories about an invasion of frogs. But those stories are part of God’s plan to rescue us too. The whole Bible points to Jesus and God’s plan to rescue the world! God’s story is like a light that shows us where to go, tells us more about who God is and how He wants us to live a good story, too – a story that helps point people to Jesus.
Focusing on the story of Esther we saw how her story lives within God's greater story. Esther had to make many choices in her life. We too have to make many choices in our lives – big ones and small ones. We talked about different choices that the girls sometimes face and pointed them to specific verses that could help them make the right decision. Each day is like a new page. The choices that we make today will shape the story we tell tomorrow. With God’s Word, we can all write a story that tells people about Him!
