Our sleepover was a great success (sleep or no sleep!). Over 30 girls came to spend the night at the church. I think that we all got to know each other a whole lot morer - lots of laughter has a way of doing that.
The focus of the evening was the Theme Badge. All the girls participated in a talent share where they were able to share with the rest of us some of their talents and abilites. We have GEMS who are artists, musicians, soccer players, gymnasts, girls who like to make others laugh, girls with leadership and peacemaking skills and much more. We even discovered that Counselor Evelyn can rap really well (ask her about her hair)!! The girls learned that even though we are talented and great at certain things, God is even greater! The girls were shown how to take those talents that God has given them and use these them to show God's greatness to others. God becomes greater when we love people the way God loves us. One of the ways we can love people is by sharing our talents and abilites with them. After the badge work we learned dance moves for our theme song this year: "God is Great" by Marty Sampson. And then, some of us were off to bed and some of us stayed up and played some group games/activities. After a shared breakfast the next morning (and LOTS of coffee for the adults) our time together came to an end.
We've had many, many comments from the girls about what a fantastic time they all had. Looking forward to camp in May!
A BIG thank-you to all the counselors for making this night a success. Special thanks to moms - Rachel C. and Rima D. - for spending the night with us and helping out in the kitechen preparing food and snacks! Can't have a sleepover without a lot of snacks and good things to eat! Much appreciated.
