In spite of dodgy weather 10 Cadet boys from grades 2 to 7 and 7 Cadet leaders biked almost 35km while spending the weekend in Whistler!
Following a careful (and prayerful) sendoff from Pastor Liz, we drove up and settled in at the cabin on Friday night. The next morning after breakfast we rode over to Lost Lake where we toured around, splitting up on trails of varying difficulty and then re-grouping at the Warming Hut for lunch. We challenged the bump track and the terrain park (counsellor Mark happily did NOT stop to visit the hospital for x-rays and a sling this year...). We travelled the Valley Trail over creeks and through the woods and biked to worship with the Whistler Community Church congregation on Sunday. We had several wonderful meals together, dipped in the hot tub and even enjoyed s'mores around the campfire. At the end of it all we did a lot of planning and organizing for the coming year and enjoyed an abundance of good food and fellowship!
Karam - hardest working cyclist
Oliver - youngest cyclist
Counsellor Curtis - longest wheelie
Daniel - slow race winner
Thanks to Junior Counsellor Ryan, Assistant Counsellors Curtis and Steffen and counsellor Tim for joining us this year. Thanks also to counsellor Harold for the use of his trailer and counsellors John and Larry for all their help. Thanks also to Walter and Marion (you know who you are!) for the use of their cabin!
Finally, we thank God for a safe, fun and special way to start off the new Cadet season. Join us in prayers for continued blessings on our 'Work In Progress'.
