An art show entitled Song of My Salvation is currently on display at Willoughby Church. The works are created by Violet Behzadian, an art and architecture professor who, rather than renounce her faith, fled her native Iran after converting to Christianity in 2006. She eventually came to Ladner accompanied by her husband and young son, where they were befriended by members of the Ladner Christian Reformed Church. It is through this connection that the show comes to us.
The series of paintings that are on display are part of an art exhibit that hung in the Regent College Lookout Gallery earlier this year. The paintings, all depicting women, are a reflection of Behzadian's own journey of living into God's grace in her journey of faith and freedom. Nine of the original 17 works in the series are on loan by the artist to Willoughby Church. Some are available for purchase.
We acknowledge and are grateful for the support of John and Bev Bandstra in bringing this show to Willoughby Church.
